B2R is a rural BPO that operates out of 5 centres in the districts of Nainital and Almora in Uttarakhand and employs about 350 young local men and women. Members of the B2R team based at Simalkhan (10 km from Seem) had interacted with the older children earlier in September and told them about their organization and the nature of their work. The idea with this visit was to expose the children to employment opportunities in the area and make them aware that their visitors were from a school and village just like theirs. The kids had been invited to visit the Simalkhan centre and get a first-hand idea of the work while interacting with the other employees at Simalkhan.

– Pooja

So on the 4th of November, 2 jeep loads of 18 children of class 10 and above and 8 young women from the villages of Seem, Dhon and Byasi made a trip to Simalkhan.

They were received graciously and even made to sign the visitors book!! After being given a brief introduction to the centre, they had a chance to sit with the B2R employees and interact with them to try and understand the kind of work they were doing. Finally, there was an open house where each participant from B2R and the library introduced themselves and shared their own experiences.

A wonderful and informative outing was concluded with tea and snacks courtesy B2R and we all returned to the library by 2 PM.
